Business School Reports 100% Placement Rate This Year

The Barowsky School of Business (BSB) at 猫咪社区 means business as evidenced by its 100 percent placement rate for graduating seniors seeking placement this year.

There are 39 recent students 鈥 30 graduated in May 2020 and nine graduated in December 2019 鈥 who have been hired by such companies as Restoration Hardware, Randstad Technologies, Northwestern Mutual, TEKSystems, First Republic Bank, Peloton, Merrimak Capital, Canal Alliance, and Union Bank.

In addition, eight students plan to head to graduate school.

鈥淥ne of the most unique parts of the business school is how professional development is embedded in the undergraduate curriculum. This means that all business students have training in how to find a job and how to be successful while working,鈥 says Courtney Budesa, Dominican鈥檚 Director of Internships and Professional Development.

鈥淭his model provides equity within the business school because all undergraduate students learn how to build their own network, write resumes, interview, etc. This means that they don't need to solely rely on reaching out to others or their own personal/family network for assistance in finding a job.鈥

For example, Jacquelyn Jacinto 鈥20 started working at Genentech shortly after commencement. Other recent graduates are taking the graduate school route. Tiffany Allen 鈥20 intends to attend York St. John University in England to study design and Tamara Totah 鈥20 has been accepted to USF to study environmental management.

鈥淓very opportunity, every experience, every person, and every day at Dominican taught me something new,鈥 says Jacquelyn, who is working at Genentech (Under PRO Unlimited) as a patient resource specialist for the Patient Resource Center. 鈥淒ominican provided space for me to constantly ask questions, stay curious, and try new things.鈥

It is the combination of influential BSB instructors/mentors and accommodating alumni plus dedicated staff that helped pave the path for these business students to pursue their careers and dreams.

Courtney works with individual students as a career coach. She helps students find jobs by de-mystifying the job search process and breaking it down into digestible and actionable steps. She explains how to read job descriptions and how to decode the business jargon to really understand what the position is all about.

鈥淏ecause of our strong internship program, students are able to translate that experience and help them find a job after graduation,鈥 Courtney says 鈥淚n 2020, 30% of the BSB undergrads who found jobs after graduation found them from prior internships. The students continue with their internships and negotiate full-time positions and salaries after graduation, or network with past employers to find a full-time position.鈥

Jacquelyn says Courtney led her to four internships, including a placement at NewGen Surgical.

鈥淚 love how the Dominican community continues to contribute to my growth and constantly expands my network,鈥 Jacquelyn says, 鈥淚t was a perfect match that helped me set and reach my goals when paving my career path.鈥
